How does Nebraska feel right about now? A deadline by last Friday for them to make a decision, then to find out that those that forced their hand are not going anywhere and they are set to make more money? The Big 12 North was already marginal at best with Nebraska, now they will be the "welcome mat" for the South to walk all over for a Championship, unless they elect to not have a Big 12 Championship. This should be an outrage for them. Make no mistake, however, the Big 10 Network brings in about $242 million a year to split among the schools, so Nebraska should be just fine. I would just be upset about the whole "deadline" thing. It really looks bad for the Big 12 "Commish" to just let Nebraska and Colorado go, then provide a pitch for the rest of the schools to stay.

No big deal. Big 12 is in the rear view mirror. This is just more proof the conference is at Texas' whim...thrilled to be gone. What's happened now is pretty much exactly what Nebraska was saying all along so it's no surprise. The Big 10 is a much better deal for Nebraska over the long term...that $242m is headed way up. This is a generation decision, not a 4-5 year decision. What you heard today from the Big 12 is a concept and simply mortgages the future. Remember negative amortizing 30 year loans on condo in Rockwall? This is the football equilivent. It will never play out over time. Beebe just promised to lock in a TV deal for a longer life span than the conference will have.
Proof ? "an official with direct knowledge of the talks said late Monday night that Texas’s 11th-hour demands to the Pac-10 broke down the talks. Texas wanted to keep its lucrative local television rights and also asked for “extra sweetener” in revenue sharing, according to the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the talks.
“It was unacceptable,” the official said. “The talks broke down."
